Got Ants? 2 Tips To Get Them Out Of Your House

If you have noticed ants in your home this can be frustrating. This is because these insects can be hard to remove if you do not know how. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to get them out of you house. Below are two tips to help you do this so your home will be free of these annoying insects.

Remove Ants Naturally

If you do not want to use any type of poison in your home, such as if you have kids or pets, there are natural ways you can remove the ants.

Chalk is one way you can do this. Ants are repelled by chalk because it contains calcium carbonate, which is ground up shells of a variety of marine animals. You can use a chalk stick to draw a line to create a border if you know where the ants are. You can also crush a chalk stick and sprinkle chalk dust in areas where you see ants. This will look unsightly, but it won't be long until you notice no ants in your home. Baby powder or flour work in the same way.

Using lemons is another option that you have. Ants are repelled by the smell and will stay away. Fill a spray bottle with lemon juice and spray the substance wherever you see ants. This adds a benefit as lemons can make your house smell great. Spray the lemon along window sills and any other entry points the ants may be getting in.

You can also mix a bottle of 1/2 water and 1/2 lemon juice, spray it onto your floors, and mop. This will give the entire floor the lemon smell that ants hate.

Use a Product

If you do not mind using chemicals there are many products on the market that are made to kill ants. One product is squeezing a gel onto a piece of cardboard. Place the cardboard in areas where you see ants. They are drawn to the gel as it tastes sweet to them. The ants will also carry the gel back to their nest giving it to other ants. The gel is poison and over time enough ants will eat the poison and it will kill them.

There is also another type of gel that you can use. This product comes with a syringe to make it easy for you to apply along window sills, edges of flooring, and anywhere else you see ants.

You can purchase ant spray at most home improvement stores. You spray this product anywhere you see ants. Spray will dissipate much quicker, however, so make sure you reapply it as needed so it can continue working.

If you are not able to get rid of the ants contact a pest control company. This company can find the nests outside and kill the nest so ants will quit coming into your home. The pest control company will also spray inside your home to kill ants.

For more information, you will want to contact a company such as Arab Termite and Pest Control.

About Me

Controlling Pets Indoors

Although it might seem easy to keep bugs from infiltrating your home, it is easier said than done. I have always been a stickler for cleanliness, but months ago I realized that there were some serious issues with our house. We started realizing that the paint was bubbling in some places and the floors were exceptionally squeaky, so we started doing a little digging to discover the source of the issue. We realized that we had termites, so we turned to a team for help. They came through, explained the tenting process, and got started. Find out more about pest control on this website.
